J'accepte. Je veux tout ce que tu veux.

Dear Friend,

Pensive, Mathilda asks her mother: :

– “Mom, do you think Mrs. Izabella is embarrassed when she goes out and people stare at her?”

– “You mean because of her facial paralysis?”

– “Yes. When I accompanied her to the store and she went to pay for her purchases, the cashier didn’t know where to look. Mrs. Izabella, with a slight smile, said something kind to her, as though she hadn’t noticed her embarrassment. She thanked her and talked about the nice weather, hoping the cashier would be able to take advantage of it after work.

– “You see, my dear, Mrs. Izabella suffered a lot from this facial paralysis which occurred when she was a very beautiful woman and still relatively young. It’s very hard when one’s face is affected. However, she accepted her ordeal, and tried not to withdraw into herself or feel sorry for herself, for the others also have crosses which can be just as hard to bear, even if they aren’t visible

Moreover, God surrounded Mrs. Izabella with persons who continued to love her, which helped her to accept herself, to cultivate her inner beauty in spite of everything and to cause it to radiate. She experienced some more difficult periods, but she was able to find her strength in God by accepting it. Today, she is serene, and because she went through this suffering, she is better able to understand the suffering of others. God permits trials to help us ascend to Him; when we accept events, the soul blossoms out, remains calm and confident, even if it is suffering. Mrs. Izabella is a wonderful example of this.”

In order to be happy in life, in spite of all the painful and difficult things which may come our way, it is necessary to accept the events we cannot change, events which upset everything, so as to detach us from things. We could go even further and say: accept in advance whatever might happen, which is still unknown to us.

As a young adolescent, Marie-Paule was already preparing herself interiorly in this way, convinced that God would always act with love and for the greater good of her soul. In her prayer, she said to Him: “I accept. I want all you may want.

By getting into the habit of praying in this way, it becomes easier to accept trials when they occur and to transform them into opportunities for enrichment. So, we encourage you to practise this too, in a wonderful act of faith, by submitting to God in trust and love in everything that happens to you. When your plans are turned topsy-turvy, when a companion says something hurtful to you or when you experience disappointments, repeat this prayer, telling God once again that you want all He will permit in your life, letting Him guide it. This inner disposition will bring you closer to Him and you will be happy, even if your heart aches.

That evening, alone in her room, Mathilda was thinking about Mrs. Izabella and her conversation with her mother. And without even realizing it, her thoughts were uplifted to the Infinite. What will the day be like tomorrow? And after tomorrow? What direction will her life take? This moment then became imbued with mystery and secret greatness. A gentle touch of divine Love passed over her soul, enveloped it in peace and grace and guided her will towards the glimpsed ideal, for she too wants only what God will want for her, this infinitely good Father, Mother, Son, Daughter and Spirit all at the same time.

Bouquet de lavandeThe God of Love cannot resist this upsurge of her being. He tenderly bends down to her beautiful white soul, often cleansed by the marvelous sacrament of Pardon and nourished by the Eucharist, there were the seed of the Kingdom has been deposited and is developing little by little. He whispers His Love to it, His desire to see it become always more beautiful; a gentle appeal Mathilda is better able to perceive because her soul is pure. It doesn’t matter what happens in her life! She too wants to live a wonderful, rich life, a life of love for God and with Him, convinced that He will always support His child. An intimate communication of her soul with God.

Mathilda then opens her diary and writes under the day’s date: “Jesus, Marie-Paule, I want everything you may desire, all you will permit in my life, because I have confidence in you.” One sentence, but it is not just words!

Then, she rummages through her drawer looking for a prayer she remembers having put there because she thought it was a beautifully profound prayer expressing the upsurge lying dormant in her soul. Like a pact with God, she wrote out this prayer, attributed to Saint Pius X, recopying it word for word.

Main qui écrit“My God, I believe in your infinite goodness which embraces the world, but especially in this special and very personal goodness towards the miserable creature I am. That is why, Lord, even when I don’t see, don’t understand, don’t feel anything, I believe that everything that happens to me is the expression of your love, and with all my will, I prefer it to any other state which could be more pleasant but which would not come from you to the same extent. Do with me as you please, leaving me only the consolation of obeying you. Amen.”
