The virtue of hope completes faith so well! Faith tells us that “Yes, God exists, even if I do not see Him.” And hope adds: “One day, I will be entirely with Him forever!” Hope is the great desire of our heart to be with God. We did not invent this desire. It comes from God himself, He who dwells in our soul, our spiritual body.

Charity is the greatest love because it comes from God himself. And since God is all Love, He put in each one of us a part of His Love. So, when we love God, it is not only with our little heart, but we love with His very own Love. That is the great mystery of charity. And when we love our neighbor with that love, it is not only we who love, but God who loves through us, He who wins over our hearts.

6. Humility

Humility is an essential virtue because it opens us to the practice of all the other virtues. Imagine a big garden full of beautiful flowers. For the flowers to be able to grow, the soil around them must be well kept. This soil is humility. When it is well kept and all forms of pride are pulled out, the other virtues flourish. When we keep our heart humble, it is easier to love, to obey, to believe and to practise all the other virtues.

7. The Spirit of Service

The spirit of service is a virtue that fills us with joy and gives us wings to advance more easily in life. It is the wonderful habit of spontaneously offering our help everywhere we go, according to our strength and our possibilities. To practise self-abandonment is to accept life as it comes. To abandon oneself is to remain confident and calm, whether we are faced with a small inconvenience or a difficult trial. And, as Marie-Paule has taught us, let us remember that when a difficulty arises, Heaven then sends us the necessary graces to help us act as we should.
