Letter from the Church King to the Members of the Lady’s Work
By MARC-ANDRÉ I
Dear Knights of Mary, Dear Friends,
February 22, 2026 – In the continuation of the task of updating and relaunching that was undertaken in the last few years in the great Work of the Lady, the Officers of the works that make it up, appointed by Marie-Paule, are prompted by a constant concern to foster transparency in all things and to enable all members to have access to a knowledge of the truth. That is why they decided together that it was necessary to act according to her example, by applying it in the best possible way to the circumstances described in the following pages. In fact, it is necessary to finally shed all the light concerning certain past events which were never completely clarified.
Likewise, it was decided that the Church King would be the one to write the present informational article, which would then be reviewed by other persons in charge. Thus, their knowledge and their observations completed this letter, and then it was approved for publication.
Moreover, the facts mentioned are a part of the history of the Work, and it was appropriate that they be set down in writing, without embellishing them or tarnishing them, because they are very rich in teachings. We must not forget either that the Work itself is an inestimable treasure which Marie-Paule left us with so much love, after having paid so dearly for it. So, we have the duty to do all we possibly can so that the nascent Kingdom may develop, escape the power of obscure forces and lead us to the new Reality.
The events to be dealt with, which some are aware of and others not, continue to have consequences and are still causing much suffering to certain people. That is the reason why “we must not hide anything”, according to the title in the paper Le Royaume1 in other times and with regard to other situations. That is certainly the case of course, but on condition that divulging them is useful or necessary and always respectful of the persons and the truth. So, that will be the line of conduct followed throughout the present article, as we place ourselves under the Lady’s watchful eye, for She is the one who brought us together, and situate ourselves within the context of the world as it exists today.
A Sad Observation
On a very broad level and in whatever way we may understand it, we have reached a turning point in the history of humanity, and Marie-Paule even said “at the decline of a civilization”.2 How true that is! How rapid it is too, and how concerning it even is! Everything is collapsing around us: faith first of all and then religion, culture and education, politeness and respect, the sense of modesty and fidelity, the concern for others and the perception of the human being as a creature of God.
Decades of progressive obscuring or confusion and organized ignorance have led most men to forget the real meaning of things. They feel lost and when a living being feels lost, this is when he can become aggressive and think only of himself, seeking to protect himself.
So much past greatness to arrive at the state of the present world! So many magnificent buildings and landscapes cleverly laid out or developed, so many works of art and spiritual creations, so many inventions testify to the genius with which God endowed man! And then, and for a long time already, but always at a faster and stronger pace, the universal and terrible collapse: the destruction of the beautiful and the promotion of the ugly, the negation of what is true and the proliferation of what is false, good being ridiculed and bad triumphing everywhere, as though it were the forced expression of a cult to the powers of Evil attacking us and pressing upon us from all sides.
Of course, we must not despair, even if Evil is dominating and corrupting the hearts of many men. Is there even one person it does not affect in one way or another, given that its methods are so varied and so cunning its action? From that moment, next to all the Good we think, want to do and most often do, is there not also in us more evil or less evil, whether this is as a consequence of original Sin or because of what life on Earth has done to men by distorting their soul and often leading them to lose the sense of God?
Evil Is Everywhere
What exists in the outside world also exists within our ranks, not sparing them unfortunately. Of course, many members of the Work would want to be better and even perfect, but that has never been an easy goal to achieve for anyone. Evil is always spying, watching, on the lookout, waiting, working, deluding, and it often affects us in spite of ourselves.
Marie-Paule could not tolerate that there be incorrect situations or regrettable behaviors within the Work. She referred to them as stains in a crystal ball3 and they made her suffer tremendously. We understand this well, but men being what they are, to what extent was this inevitable? The fact remains though that Evil must be denounced, fought against and we must try to drive it away. But that is not always within our reach or even always possible…
Setting Straight the Situation
So it was that the Lady’s Work was as though “neglected” in various areas and for many years, that is in fact, since Marie-Paule was no longer in a position to direct it (as of 2011). A few days before dying on August 13, 2024, Father Victor Rizzi, the Marian Father, said, in reference to the years since Marie-Paule’s departure in 2015: “Nine years of opposition to progress, that’s enough!” (cf. Le Royaume, no. 290, Sept.-Oct. 2024, p. 12)
We must specify here and even insist on the fact that, in all that will follow, it is not a matter of blaming or condemning anyone whomsoever. God alone knows the intentions in hearts and is the only one who can judge. When someone sets roadblocks to the Work’s progression or harms it through his words or actions, this may be the result of an incomplete or inaccurate understanding of the Lady’s Mystery or of a distorted judgment concerning persons or events.
Consequently, since 2024, and under the courageous impetus of Father Victor, the Church King and other directors of the Work tried to set the situation straight in at least two ways: by “compensating” for the shirking of certain responsibilities and other omissions or different erring ways, and then by resolutely going forward inasmuch as possible. Perhaps some people felt that everything was moving a little too fast, but this is only because the Work had fallen far behind and we had to catch up.
Now, we are once again moving forward, from adapted prayer to renewed ritual, from practical decision to project undertaken, from the re-organization of premises to equipment maintenance, for the greater joy of all the persons who “live of the Work” in their innermost soul and in the depths of their heart. For many people, this was a marvelous feeling. But, for others, this was a time of adaptation that requires more effort and time. However, there are other “dossiers” needing to be dealt with. If we do not do so or think that we can ignore anything whatsoever, others may then intervene in our place and act to our detriment.
The Main Evils
In our present world, among all the evils our societies have to suffer, there are, according to the media, the financial wrongdoings as well as the seeking of power and its abuses. Although it is not generally formulated in these terms, there are also moral depravity and the impunity linked to wealth, the corollary to the abuses of power and, to put it in a few words, the proof that money powerfully dominates the world and really destroys souls.
Here, some readers may wonder what the relationship is between these deplorable situations and the Lady’s Work… In fact, it is quite simple: what exists in all milieus (political, artistic, sports, associations, etc.) and even within too many families is also found in Churches and religious movements. For example, there has been so much talk of pedophilia in the Catholic Church. So, yes, we would all have liked the Work to be completely irreproachable in all respects, but it being made up of the same human beings as in the outside secular world, it too experiences the same deviations, unfortunately.
When I say “the Work”, it should be understood to mean that it consists of lay persons and religious. Concerning what may be going on in families or elsewhere, I know only what most people know, but given my role, various people have informed me of certain events that occurred in the Community of the Sons of Mary. So, I will successively deal with the matter of power and authority and then the one of certain deviant behaviors. (Other points could be mentioned, but they are of a secondary nature and this is not the place to deal with them.)
Abuses of Power
We often hear talk about abuses of power and sometimes about abuses of authority. The two are similar obviously and also overlap, but there nevertheless exists a certain difference that should be made clear. Generally then, power accompanies an appointment or an office that was assigned to us, a responsibility received from a superior or, in our societies, a mandate resulting from an election we wanted to win. Authority, on the other hand, is derived most often from a personal or professional accomplishment which confers upon its author a reputation of competence and integrity, that is, a moral aura recognized by others. A proof of this is that one can “take” or “surrender” power, but not authority. The fact is, though, that there is much confusion in this area and the terms are often interchanged.4
In the case of the abuses with which Padre Jean-Pierre is reproached (already denounced in part in Le Royaume5 and whether or not they were conscious or unwitting, voluntary or involuntary), they are, at the outset and from the perspective developed here, both abuses of power and abuses of authority (the power having been received from Marie-Paule and the authority resulting in part from the beneficial action of Father Pierre as the head of the Community of the Sons of Mary in Italy). On the other hand, the abuses committed by Father Jean-François Mastropietro, mainly, in recent years, within the context of the Seminary, are nothing more than simple abuses of power, but serious ones. Since this power had been given him, besides, by his brother, this latter remains, as a result, the real person responsible. (He could have relieved Father Jean-François of his responsibilities at any time, which would have shown his attentiveness to his confreres, his courage and his lucidity.)
Thus, all those abuses – numerous, multiform and very harmful – were either committed, accepted or ratified by the Head of the Church of John. Those abuses caused departures among the Sons of Mary (as well as departures outside the Community), sufferings and persons questioning themselves, physical problems and psychological troubles, losses of reference points and doubts with regard to the Work and the Community, and even with regard to Marie-Paule herself because it would seem that She had placed a lot of hope in Padre Jean-Pierre by appointing him Head of the Church, upon an indication from Heaven, and having passed on a part of her powers to him. One question remains and that is knowing what She foresaw or sensed about what would happen after her departure.
Abuses of power and authority were not committed only by the persons named above, but they are the main ones that rendered the situation unbearable and even intolerable, to the point that, encouraged by Father Victor Rizzi just before his death, we – that is, the assembly of persons in charge appointed by Marie-Paule and gathered around the Church King – had to take very difficult and painful decisions which led to the estrangement of Father Pierre M., the placing of the Church of John under the responsibility of the Church King and the progressive withdrawal of responsibilities assumed by the Mastropietro brothers until then.
Almost everything has now fallen into place. “Almost” because, as of today, Father Pierre, after having told many people over fifteen months ago that he had been “driven out” of the Seminary of the Church of John, is still living there with his brother and their elderly mother. With regard to the rest, measures have been taken by those in charge of the Work – and others are still to be taken – so that such deviations can no longer occur. We also pray that all the persons who were victims in one way or another may really be able to recover, get past the harm done and regain the full and salutary serenity of their soul.
Moral Matters
After having talked about abuses of power and authority in the Lady’s Work, it would have been normal to follow it up by addressing head-on the matter of “sexual abuses”, the term commonly used to describe such situations (and sometimes replaced by misconduct, aggression, harassment, etc.) However, I could not see this being used as a subtitle in a spiritual review such as Le Royaume, so I preferred as a title the words “moral matters”, clearly indicating, as I am doing now, that I will deal only with specific sexual abuses; in other words, in this case, of acts of pedophilia committed against boys, young and not as young, by a few priests in the Work (to the exclusion of any other abusive or incorrect attitude of which I would not be informed).
With regard to this second point, I must also foresee that a possible cleavage could appear, given that, for various reasons, the knowledge of that reality differs greatly among individuals. Thus, some might think that I am not giving much information, whereas others, hearing such realities spoken of for the first time, could be surprised and even scandalized that such events could have occurred within the Lady’s Work. It is also up to the parents to judge whether the present issue of the review can be read by all their children (for, yes, we know that children read our review!).
However, we should not be surprised by such a situation because Marie-Paule herself, and on at least two occasions, warned the members of the Army of Mary of the real “danger” Father Denis Laprise represented for the young people. She did this orally and in writing. To prove this, here are two short passages (short for lack of space because the second text is very long) with regard to what She published first of all in Life of Love in 1979 and then in the paper Le Royaume in 1997.
[Marie-Paule quoting Father Denis:] “Drawn, while very young – three or four years old – into acts of homosexuality, this tendency became very strong at the time of adolescence, creating in me a psychological problem deep and serious enough to lead me to believe that the image I left with those who saw or met me, was that of an effeminate man, a homosexual. I grew up with that. I even became a religious and then a priest with that idea in my head.” (Life of Love V, p. 185)
[Marie-Paule:] “Father Denis lives every day with this sexual attraction to the young, which he constantly repels, constantly in fear of an imprudence. Through ‘Life of Love’, in 1979, our members were informed of this case. One day, a priest came to tell me about a going astray by Father Denis [and afterwards] carried Father Denis’ case to our adversaries. We, on the other hand, had immediately honestly informed our Officers. Those were our actions, done charitably and openly…” (Le Royaume, no. 123, September-October 1997, p. 12)
It was briefly expressed, delicately even, and the warning had been given publicly. However, for reasons that are understandable and because of certain prejudices at the time, no victim (Son of Mary, former Son of Mary or lay member) brought a complaint to the police, whereas this would have made it possible to stop everything right then and there.
The Facts, the Reactions
So, this was mainly Father Denis Laprise and Father Lionel Bélanger who are both dead today. They were the authors of acts of pedophilia, that is, acts of a sexual nature perpetrated against children or adolescent boys. The acts committed, whatever they may be, are always serious for the victims. They caused much suffering, and if some young boys were able to overcome the consequences, forget and even pardon; others, more deeply wounded perhaps, are still living with the trauma which affects their present life (marriage, religious life or celibate) and which they have to accept, sometimes in silence.
Those events took place, 20, 30 or 40 years ago, so that some victims are fathers or grandfathers today. They occurred in different places in Quebec and elsewhere. Marie-Paule was very deeply incensed by them, to the point of being quite disgusted at times, but She could not always act in complete freedom. Then, for years and at least since 2011, Padre Jean-Pierre is the one who wanted to control everything and who, in different circumstances, said that he feared having to go to prison if the events ended up being known. (His fear was perhaps not justified but it proved that he had a certain consciousness of his personal responsibility and of the seriousness of the events.)
For her part, Marie-Paule never drew back from the necessity of shedding light, even writing as the title of two long articles that “Our Transparency Always Ennobles Us Before God, in Spite of Appearances to the Contrary in the Eyes of Men”. (Le Royaume, nos. 146 and 147 in 2000 and 2001)
Always Transparency
Today, the time has come to reveal what we know because all the members of the Work have the right to know what happened in the past and how certain persons reacted when they learned the facts. Revealing what we know also falls within the duty we have to acknowledge what the victims underwent, and is a part of the “great clean-up” foretold by Marie-Paule and in which we can see the reorganization of the Work undertaken a short time ago.
First of all, it is imperative to do what the social context, ignorance, fear or the feeling of helplessness prevented those in charge of the Sons of Mary from doing 20, 30 or 40 years ago; that is, “take things in hand”. Not with regard to the guilty persons named above (they have already been dead for several years), but with regard to the victims, first of all, and then with regard to the Work and its members who sacrifice themselves for it, and finally, with regard to the outside world which, some day, will come to know about what many of us in many cases have only recently learned.
The Victims of the Abuses
Most of the victims are still alive. Some are known to us and others not. However, I am addressing myself today to all the victims of sexual abuses committed in the Work, doing so in my own personal name and on behalf of all the current directors of the Lady’s Work, even if many of us were not in office at the time of the events. I sincerely ask forgiveness for all the harm they had to endure on the part of certain priests in the Work. And I am also addressing myself to the parents, brothers and sisters and all the close relatives who were saddened by the keen suffering of one of their loved ones. From her place in Heaven, may our Mother, the foundress of the Work, spread a gentle, sweet balm upon the souls of those whose faith in Her has sometimes cost them dearly, and may they perceive all the esteem and admiration we bear them for their faithfulness in this ordeal.
Likewise and now that the word has been freed more and more, we also ask forgiveness for all the abuses of power and authority which caused considerable harm to the Lady’s Work, but before which the persons informed did not always know how to react. Why? Mainly because the problem lay in an inappropriate exercise of power (and I would also say, in a vow of obedience at times perceived as restricting). This greatly paralyzed the operation of a Church and a Community which Marie-Paule had wanted to be exemplary.
The Members of the Work
Today, we all hope that this kind of situation will never occur again. However, even if we generally strive to be respectful towards others, the human being remains basically the same with his limitations and his weaknesses and his tendencies to evil. To ignore this would be pointless, would be quite illusory and even dangerous. That is why certain measures were taken. Thus, for a few years now, we have no longer been calling upon altar boys to serve at Masses celebrated at Spiri-Maria or elsewhere.6 Similarly, it was recalled that no religious was ever to be alone with a young boy in any place whatsoever (except for confession which, however, has to take place where another person can see it). That was the first precaution taken so as to protect both the young boys and the priests.
More recently, Father Serge Lépine, Superior General of the Sons of Mary, with the collaboration of a lay member of the Work, drew up a detailed protocol of intervention, specifying especially the manner of reporting possible future abuses, so that they may be brought to an end right away, the accused immediately confronted and referred to civil authorities if necessary. This protocol also contains different information on how to aid the victims and it announces the setting up of a psychological support unit within the Work.7 Inasmuch as possible, it will be able to support or accompany a victim in the process of healing and even, if necessary, guide him in finding more specialized professional help (social workers, doctors, psychologists, lawyers).
The Outside World
On the level of the relations of the Lady’s Work with the outside world, is there a risk in disclosing the facts mentioned above, even if with regard to the sexual abuses referred to, they are now old? Certainly. The fact that there was never any complaint to police at the time of the events does not mean that there could never be any, in which case, certain people could use it to rouse public opinion against us.
In that case, if we were questioned (or mandated to answer questions), we would be obligated by morality and the law to speak up frankly and sincerely to the extent of our knowledge and our responsibilities. The Work could feel the effects of this of course, but this would not be the first trial it has had to face nor the last. The vast majority of the members always stood firm, was even strengthened in the trial and in the face of adversity. If malevolence against us were to rear its head one day and we were held in contempt, had fingers pointed at us, were reviled by relentless adversaries, this would be the moment to live, in our small measure and generously, what Marie-Paule Co-Redemptrix experienced during her entire life. We must always advance in the light and transparency, whatever the price to be paid.
A New Start
In that sense, it was necessary to begin by “freeing” the Lady’s Work from the main elements that were disrupting and even preventing its development – as Marie-Paule had foretold besides. A hard, demanding, lengthy, thankless task, not always well understood by everyone, but, in the end, we were able to see again the truth of the statement the Lord had addressed to Marie-Paule after our excommunication: “You are now free.” (The White Book II, p. 31) In fact, we were free for the first time after the Catholic Church withdrew our link of dependence towards it; and we are free a second time, now that we have drawn away from what the Church of John was becoming, before we acknowledged the fact that its methods and orientations had to be corrected.
However, the corrections having been applied, and as necessary as they were, this did not resolve everything because the Work is a complex reality made up of several smaller works and many legal corporations. Thus, spiritual realities and administrative obligations overlap in it. So, we first had to redress certain situations, redefine a lot of things and, especially, make up for lost time, making sure that the prospect of the Kingdom and the “redressing” this will represent for the world, would always remain at the center of everyone’s hope at all times.
Concerning the introduction of the changes in the forms of worship, the liturgy, the prayers and the sacraments, Marie-Paule had said to me: “Everything will be done step by step.” After the adoption of a new liturgy for the Mass in December 2024, this is what is happening today in fact, with the modification of certain prayers and the introduction of new ones: “I love You, O my God” on January 1, 2026, the new Ave Maria on March 25 and the new mysteries of the Rosary in the months to come. We must add to this the new rituals for Confirmation as well as for the reception of the Knights of the Lady, the Oblate-Patriots and the members of the Family of the Sons and Daughters of Mary.
But before that, until December 8, 2024, everything was completely blocked. The evolution was not being done “step by step”; it was not being done at all. And nothing announced that there would be any change whatsoever, even after the publication of the book, Un Amour infini, given that Padre Jean-Pierre wrote in his letter of December 5, 2024, that “to clarify these [important] points and resolve these [serious] problems, more years and pages would be concretely necessary than what was required for the writing of the work ‘Un Amour Infini’.” There was an impasse, a complete blockage announced for an indefinite duration. So, we can ask ourselves where the Work would be today without the salvific jolt that overcame the obstacles one after the other since then. This is proof once again that Marie-Paule is always watching over her Work and is guiding it amid all the obstacles and difficulties.
Towards the Great Action
So it is that events can force us to do what we would absolutely not want to do. In reality, it is the Work of God that commands and it is limited by Him in its own deadlines and its own finality. So very often we have been able to see – and generally after the fact – that events do not occur by chance, on an indefinite day, but that they are the links in a chain stretching to a specific outcome.
The new start we are presently going through – the scope of which will widen – is leading us “slowly and painfully”8 towards the most tremendous of fulfillments. We think so. We believe it. The most important is not to know how many we will be when we get there, or in what state of physical or psychic fatigue or spiritual exhaustion we will be in, but to be able to realize that our continuous hope will have borne us to that point. That is also why we are counting so much on our young people who will be the guides and the directors of tomorrow’s world.
For the rest, the Work has to continue its task of defining itself because it will not be really able to radiate as long as its foundations and its orientations will not have been well understood and well assimilated by everyone. We must have solid and well established convictions, a divine worship that is complete, coherent and compatible with our faith, even a new “mental structure”; that is, everything that can presently strengthen and determine on a long-term basis the religion that must spread throughout the world.
How could we launch into the “great action” often foretold by the Lady of All Peoples in her messages, if we cannot clearly formulate what we believe, if we do not have a solid, sound and complete faith in the Lady, if we do not deeply share the hope of the Kingdom which She instilled in our souls? It is necessary and healthy that we count on Heaven, but Heaven also counts on us. Moreover, at this time, it is waiting for us to be ready. But are we always very well aware of the gravity of our time?
* * *
So, we will soon have to stand up, dear Knights of Mary, dear “passengers on the same ship” and make known to the outside world the divine treasure of which we are the guardians: this promise of the future, the resurrection of a world that is dying today but which, tomorrow, will be completely renewed. Are things not all falling into place before our eyes?
“It will be known that I am the Lady of All Peoples
when great powers crumble,”
the Lady said in her messages (45th message),
and in Life of Love, Marie-Paule indicated: (vol. III, p. 137)
“So, at the moment when all human power crumbles,
[the Lord] will launch [the purified souls]
on a great mission.”
